Now it’s assembled it’s pretty good. Seems stable. The highest bench press position seems a little low but certainly usable. Instructions came in Italian. There are drawings but they are tiny. Definite point of improvement needed there. I am still not sure whether I have used the washers correctly but it seems to work so hey ho.

I’m a home gym enthusiast and over past 18 months struggled with getting a good quad workout. Body weight movements and dumbbell exercises just weren’t cutting it so I needed a way to do barbell squats and a full squat rack wasn’t an option due to space (and price) so I came across these mobile rack things and this one was the cheapest so I went with it.Positives -Easy to assemble, you will need two 17mm spanners although I recommend a socket wrench and 17mm spanner. I assembled one piece following instructions and then the second without looking at the instructions.Very space friendly and easy to move around.Bought for squats but capable of much more. As I said I bought this just for squats but I now have the option to do barbell bench presses, overhead barbell presses, rack pulls and probably more I haven’t realised yet.Negatives -Stability and functionality, there’s a few issues here.In the description it says the stands can support up to 200kg and another reviewer states they’ve used 180kg. I don’t doubt that the stands can support that much but whether they can actually be used safely at that weight I’m not sure, here’s why.Firstly the piece that moves up and down that supports the barbell does not fit snugly into base. It could be at least another 1mm wider all round. There is a lot of movement, rattling. Whether or not it will actually affect how much it can hold I’m not sure but it ties into my next point issue….The stands seems very easy to tip over especially when being used at squat height. It doesn’t take much forward momentum to tip them which is bad considering when you rack a barbell you typically push it into the rack to make sure it’s in safe and when unracking a barbell you typically pull it against the rack as you set up. I could easily see 40kg on a barbell sending these things tipping UNLESS you put some weight plates down to counter the momentum. Even setting up with an empty barbell for a bench press I needed the weights to anchor them down. This potential tipping coupled with the shaky supports seem like accidents waiting to happen unless you’re being careful. Some kind of removable bar that connects the two stands might help with this but then that would add to the cost.Space between stands, I use a 6ft barbell and found that when being used for squats the bottom of the stands are close together and you have to be careful not to catch your feet on them when racking and unracking the barbell. If you’re using weight in a 10+ rep range it might not be an issue but there’s no way I’d feel confident setting up for a heavy set of 5 or so.Altogether I’m very pleased with the stands, I do have concerns about their functionality and I’m aware of they’re potential limits but I feel certain precautions and common sense will avoid any issues.

This is a four star item because it is relatively inexpensive and does get the job done.Pros:- Cheap- Highly adjustable- Somewhat stable- Easy to store- Good for squats and shoulder pressCons (all related to chest press actually):- I needed to place dumbbells (45kg on each) on top to stop them toppling if the bar hits then too fast- The fittings of the internal “pipe” are quite loose and so they can wobble. Disconcerting but not a show-stopper- The lower, outer tube is quite high. On my Again Faster heavy bench, I am too low to have the safety stoppers on or I can’t reach up and place the bar backSo, all in all I’m happy, but there are compromises and they do mean I spend a lot of time adjusting them between exercises.Hope this helps someone out there.

They’re surprisingly study, they won’t move at all or topple over whether you have a barbell placed on them or not. A great benefit of having these would be that other than being able to adjust their height, you can also move them as close or far apart as you wish depending on your size or needs. Overall I’m happy with my purchase.
